Thypoch Introduces SIMERA and Eureka Lenses Featuring Vintage Styles and Modern Innovations

Posted on March 23, 2024September 15, 2024

Thypoch, a lens manufacturer that aims to combine traditional aesthetics and contemporary lens technology, has recently unveiled their latest products – the SIMERA and Eureka series. These lenses were designed to satisfy the needs of digital photographers who want both nostalgia and a break from the clinical details of modern photography. These lenses were designed to be artistic tools, not only capturing images but also capturing the spirit of various photographic eras.

SIMERA includes 28mm and 35mm f/1.4 Asph lenses that are native for the Leica Mount. The lenses are praised for their high sharpness and low chromatic distortion. They offer exceptional image quality, even in the digital age. The 14-bladed aperture, the click/declick aperture switch and a depth-of-field indicator are some of their key features. These enhance both usability as well as photographic depth.

The Thypoch Eureka lens is inspired by the iconic designs of the 1950s and pays homage to vintage lens craftsmanship. It’s compatible with the HasselbladCFV100C, and can cover a medium format of 100-megapixels. The design of the lens allows it to be extended from 2.7cm up to 4.12cm. This makes it very portable, and perfect for street photography and portraits. The Eureka lens’s sharpness in the centre and corners is comparable to other modern models.

The two lens lines are a reflection of Thypoch’s “i-photography” philosophy, which stresses personal reflection via photography. It is inspired by notable photographers such as Vivian Maier and Saul Leiter. This is in line with Thypoch’s vision that lenses are mirrors of the world. They are shaped by light and individual perspective.
